July brings our most patriotic holiday as all of America heads out to celebrations across the Chesapeake region. The Fourth of July is the perfect time for parades, carnivals and fireworks displays that end the night with a bang. July 2: Independence Celebration & Fireworks, 5 to 10 p.m., Chesapeake City: Food and music in Pell Gardens, with fireworks at 9 p.m.

July 3: Salute to Cecil County Veterans, 5 to 9:30 p.m., North East Community Park, North East: Patriotic ceremony with music, food and refreshments, ending with fireworks.

July 4: Fireworks, 9 p.m., Meadow Park, Elkton. For public safety, spectators must remain behind the walking track during the display.


July 4: Firecracker Kids’ Triathlon — Dorchester YMCA, 201 Talbot Ave., Cambridge.

Let the kids in on the fun and challenge at the fourth annual Firecracker Kids’ triathlon. For ages 6-12. Organized by Cambridge Multi-Sport. This event will challenge kids to complete a swim, bike and run event in a highly supportive and motivating community environment. All proceeds from this event will go back to the YMCA. Each participant will receive a finisher medal and a t-shirt. Awards will be issued to the top male and female finishers in each age group. July 4: Independence Day Concert — 7 p.m. Sailwinds Park, 2 Rose Hill Pl., Cambridge.

Enjoy a performance by the Mid-Shore Community Band playing patriotic favorites outdoors at the Dorchester County Visitor Center Amphitheater. Bring chairs or a blanket and bug spray. Stay for a view of the fireworks which start at dusk from a barge near Great Marsh Park, west of the amphitheater. Part of the “At the Sail” series of events.

July 4: Fireworks in Cambridge — dusk

The Cambridge, fireworks show over the Choptank River are scheduled for Tuesday, July 4 at dusk (usually a little bit after 9 p.m.). Best viewing spots include:

Great Marsh Park, near Somerset Avenue and Hambrooks Boulevard

Long Wharf Park, near High and Water Streets.

Bring your own lawn chairs or blankets and snacks.


July 2: Annual 4th of July Celebration, downtown Havre de Grace: Parade begins at Union Avenue at 2 p.m., followed by a block party at 4:30 p.m., music by the Amish Outlaws at 7 p.m. and fireworks at 9:30 p.m.


July 3: Rock Hall Fireworks — 9 p.m., The Bulkhead, Bayside Avenue, Rock Hall.

See one of the best fireworks displays on the Chesapeake Bay. An annual tradition of patriotic celebration. 410-639-7611. www.kentcounty.com.

July 4: Rock Hall 4th of July Parade — 10 a.m. Main Street, Rock Hall.

Floats, bands, fire trucks, marchers and horseback riders, all celebrating the birthday of our great nation. Parade starts on Main Street near the ballfield and continues to the Civic Center. 410-639-7611. www.kentcounty.com.

July 4: Chestertown’s July 4th Fireworks — 9:20 p.m. Chester River, Chestertown.

Wilmer Park is a spectacular viewing spot for the annual 4th of July fireworks shot over the Chester River. Show begins at dusk. July 2: Town of Centreville Fireworks Display and Festivities — 6 to 9:30 p.m. Queen Anne’s County High School, 125 Ruthsburg Rd, Centreville.

This event features free activities for kids, music, food and a fireworks display at dusk. Info: 410-758-1180. Free.

July 4: 4th of July Celebration and Fireworks — 6 to 9:30 p.m., Chesapeake Heritage and Visitor Center, 425 Piney Narrows Road, Chester.

July 1: Freedom Fest — 5 to 10 p.m., Somers Cove Marina, Crisfield.

Come to Somers Cove Marina for a family event with food, arts and crafts, a military veteran slideshow, patriotic music, kids activities, games on the beach, and finally, a fireworks display at 9:15 p.m. Admission is free, bring your own lawn chair. 410-968-2500. www.crisfieldchamber.com.


July 1: Big Band Night — 7 to 10 p.m., Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, 213 North Talbot St., Tolchester Beach Bandstand, St. Michaels.

Independence Day celebration featuring The Shades of Blue Orchestra with two vocalists. $6 CBMM members and member guests, $10 nonmembers. $2 after 8:45 p.m. Children ages 5 and under free. Admission charge. 410-745-2916. Rain date is Sunday, July 2, 2017. http://cbmm.org/event/big-band-night-2.

July 1-3: Easton Carnival — 6 to 10 p.m. Carnival nights include the rides, games and food vendors. St. Michaels Road & Waterside Drive (behind Target).

Carnival nights include the rides, games and food vendors. Independence Day program, “Club Phred” on stage and amazing fireworks display at dusk.


July 1: Family Fun for Independence Day Celebration — 5:30 to 10 p.m., Sturgis Memorial Park, Snow Hill.

Bring blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the Independence Day fireworks display at dusk. Neon glow sticks, necklaces and bracelets will be sold. 410-632-2080. www.snowhillmd.com.

July 4: 4th of July Celebration — 8 to 10 p.m., Ocean City.

Enjoy a free concert at 8 p.m., followed by fireworks at 9:30 p.m. downtown on the beach at North Division Street and simultaneously, uptown at 125th Street at Northside Park. For more information, please call 1-800-626-2326 or the Ocean City Department of Recreation & Parks at 410-250-0125. OC will host fireworks every Monday and Tuesday (time TBA) from July 10 to Sept. 4, 2017. Fireworks will be visible along the boardwalk. http://ococean.com.
